Revenues Down Slightly At Massachusetts' Lone Casino

PLAINVILLE (AP) — Revenues were down slightly last month at Massachusetts' lone casino.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission reported this week that the Plainridge Park Casino in Plainville generated more than $15 million in gross gambling revenues in August.

That's down from about $18 million in July, which was the combination slots parlor-and-harness racing track's first full month of operation.

The casino was expected to generate about $200 million in the first full year of operation.

The state collects 49 percent of gross gambling revenues from the facility, meaning it expects to collect about $98 million from Plainridge after a year. To date, it has pulled in over $19 million.

The casino opened June 24. Two larger resort casinos by MGM and Wynn are expected to open in Massachusetts in 2018.
