Pregnant Woman Attacked, Robbed In Plymouth

PLYMOUTH (CBS) - Plymouth Police are looking for a man who knocked a pregnant woman to the ground and robbed her early Tuesday evening. It happened on a bike path that runs parallel to Atlantic Avenue.

The victim "said somebody pushed her from behind, put a gun to her head and took $50 from her," neighbor Pattey Caveney told WBZ. "She said she was in pain, she was all upset because she's pregnant; she's two months pregnant."

What's got neighbors here especially concerned is the fact that this attack happened before sunset on a very busy stretch of this bike path.

"There are so many people on it," said neighbor Sandy Angerame. "I'm really surprised something like that happened because it's such a popular area right now. And on a beautiful day like today, there was just constant people going up and down."

The victim told police that she was heading towards the water when a masked man took her by surprise.

Neighbors only noticed after the fact, when the woman seemed to be confused.

"Then she came back and sat down and was holding her belly, so I went over and asked, 'Are you OK?' And she started crying. So then I called 911," explained neighbor Julie Tomasello. "She just hunched over and so she didn't know what direction he went."

The suspect took off on foot. Plymouth Police canvassed the area and picked up evidence on Route 3A - just up the street from the scene.
