LACONIA, N.H. (CBS/AP) — A small, ultralight plane crashed near the Weirs Beach Channel in New Hampshire’s lakes region.

Laconia police say they received multiple calls about a plane down in the backyard of a Lucerne Avenue home around 3:40 p.m.

The pilot, who was trapped, was freed by firefighters, police said.

The pilot was rushed to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital in Lebanon.

The extent of the pilot’s injuries are unknown.

The crash occurred at the edge of Lake Winnipesaukee’s western shore near Laconia.

No additional information was immediately available.
