Keller @ Large: Capuano Says Funding For Green Line Project Not In Jeopardy

BOSTON (CBS) -- Now that we know Green Line extension plans could really cost a billion dollars more than initially estimated, is the project in jeopardy?

U.S. Rep. Michael Capuano of Somerville tells WBZ political analyst Jon Keller that federal funding should be safe.

"It won't jeopardize it unless the state changes the project," Capuano said. "If they want to go back for more federal money, they have to go to the end of the line and start all over again."

MBTA officials said that engineers based the price tag of extending the Green Line into Somerville and Medford on bottom-of-the-recession construction costs.

"That is idiotic, that is somebody who's trying to get a project to appear better than it is as opposed to being honest about it," Capuano said. "Why can't you just tell the truth?"

Capuano also talked about where he stands on the Iran Deal and what he thinks about Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump.
