SALEM (CBS) — Friends of a chef who was stabbed to death at P.F. Chang’s in Peabody on Saturday are trying to raise money to have his body sent to his family and also help his wife and child.
Elivelton Dias, 38, of Salem, was stabbed in the back by 23-year-old Jaquan Huston, a fellow chef at the Northshore Mall restaurant, police say.
Dias leaves behind his wife and 9-day-old daughter.
The GoFundMe campaign was created by Fabian Matos.
“We are raising funds to transfer the body to Brazil and help the widow who is a cesarean guard,” reads the campaign page.
“She has no family living in the United States and employs only with friends.”
As of late Sunday night, more than 150 donations had been made and nearly $8,100 raised.
The fundraising goal is $15,000.
