Phantom Gourmet: Great 8 Guilty Pleasures

Dripping with sauce or loaded with sugar, the guiltiest pleasures are the ones you can't seem to stop craving. Nothing makes Phantom feel more gluttonous than these 8 Great places for guilty pleasures.

The Fix
Worcester

Kicking off the Great 8 is The Fix in Worcester. This place may be known for their juicy burgers, creamy shakes and homemade sodas, but their most sinful selections can be found of the appetizer menu, like Blue Cheese Polenta Tater Tots with Buffalo and Ranch dipping sauces, crispy Chicken Wings with a barbecue dry rub, and ultra-addictive Potato Chip Short Rib Nachos.

Uncle David's
Whitman

Uncle David's in Whitman may look like your typical small town sub shop, but once you sink your teeth into one of their hearty sandwiches, crispy pizzas or beefy burgers, you'll know that this is way beyond an ordinary mom and pop. That's because this kitchen likes to get creative with dishes like the Asian Pork Burger spiked with ginger, grilled onions and Chinese cabbage. The guiltiest pleasure has to be the Goober Burger, a creation featuring both peanut butter and mayonnaise, that Uncle David himself swears by.

Chomp
Warren, RI

Another great 8 winner is Chomp in Warren, Rhode Island. This lively spot specializes in comfort foods, with a focus on over-the-top burgers and sensational sandwiches. Phantom has never felt guiltier than when gorging on the messy masterpiece known as the Mac & Cheeseburger.

Bartley's
Cambridge

Bartley's in Harvard Square is a legendary hangout that looks more like a dorm room, packed with wooden tables and plastic patio chairs. Chalkboard menus hang above the open kitchen, listing countless creative burgers named after local celebrities. Phantom's appetite rises for the Viagra Burger, a plump patty loaded with blue cheese and bacon on a toasted sesame bun.

Good Day Café
North Andover

The Good Day Cafe in North Andover has taken outrageous eats to a whole new level with their creation known as the maple bacon donut muffin.

"We bake our own muffins - it's a donut batter. On top of that is maple frosting that we make from scratch. And at top of that is a delicious heap of crispy Applewood smoked bacon. When you have that cakey taste with the delicious maple sweet flavor compounded with the savory bacon, it's a very delicious combination."

Windy City Dogs & More
Norwell

Windy City Dogs and More in Norwell serves some out-of-this world indulgences, like the Chicago Dog. Served on a squishy, poppy seed bun and topped with mustard, onions, pickle, tomato, and bright green relish, this sweet and spicy sandwich is a true Chicago original, and, of course, it's made with a Vienna Beef hot dog - the official dog of Chi-Town.

Daddy's Dairy
Brockton, Randolph, Stoughton

Another Great 8 winner is Daddy's Dairy in Brockton, Randolph, and Stoughton. For ice cream lovers who want a lot of options, Daddy does it all. This colorful spot offers 80 flavors of ice cream and over 200 types of soft serve. Plus, you can choose from about 60 toppings along with custom ice cream cakes, fresh-made waffle cones, and a killer banana split. Phantom's top guilty pleasure is the homemade chocolate chip cookie sandwich that puts your typical Chipwich to shame.

Caserta Pizza
Providence

Rounding out the Great 8 is Caserta Pizza in Providence, a Federal Hill mainstay that's been serving up crispy, buttery slices since 1953. The menu hasn't changed much over the years, and neither have the prices. A small, round 6 slice pizza starts at under seven dollars, while a large, rectangular 12-slice pie is only seventeen bucks.
