Newburyport Mom, Grandmother Wanted For Child Endangerment Found In NYC
BOSTON (CBS) - A Newburyport mother and grandmother, wanted on criminal charges after allegedly raising a child in squalor, have been found in New York City.
Kristen Pacquette, 32, and her mother Debra Pacquette, 54, were facing charges of reckless endangerment of a child when they failed to appear in court Tuesday. Warrants were then issued for their arrests.
They were found by New York City Police Wednesday night at a home in the Bronx.
Kristen Pacquette's 7-year-old daughter, who was supposed to be in state custody, was with them.
"The girl, who appeared safe and healthy, was taken into state protection for eventual transfer to the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families," Massachusetts State Police said in a statement.
Essex County prosecutors are working to arrange the rendition of the mother and grandmother back to Massachusetts.
Kristen and Debra Paquette were arrested in July after officers who were called to their home on Strong Street.
Officers first went to the house after getting an anonymous tip from the state's child abuse hotline.
The home has since been condemned and the child was taken into DCF custody.
