West Bridgewater Police Want You To Know About Their Texting Sting

WEST BRIDGEWATER (CBS) -- The West Bridgewater Police Department is alerting drivers to be on the lookout for a Facebook post that will tell them the time and day they'll conduct a distracted driving sting.

No, the department's page hasn't been hacked.

"We don't normally announce it, but we thought we'd try something new this time," the department posted.

"Hopefully it will make people think twice. We're interested to see the results."

Nearly 330,000 injuries occur each year from accidents caused by texting while driving, the department posted.

They have already conducted at least six similar enforcement stings and have stopped more than 80 cars.

"We hope that people will read our facts on the dangers of texting while driving and that partnered with our warnings, it will make them think twice before looking at their phones," they wrote.
