BOSTON (CBS) — Candid photos of former President John F. Kennedy during his prep school years are up for bid at a Boston auction house.

RR Auction says five original photos of Kennedy while he was a high school student at Choate in Connecticut will be on the auction block through Sept. 16.

The photos include a shot of Kennedy in full academic regalia for his 1935 graduate from Choate, a “playful image” of Kennedy and his roommate at drama club rehearsal, a picture of Kennedy on the roof of the Kennedy estate in Palm Beach, Florida, a photo of Kennedy with his father and sister on a ship and an image of Kennedy with friends.

Three of the photos appeared in the 1961 biography “Young John Kennedy,” by Gene Schoor.

“An absolutely outstanding, one-of-a-kind collection of original material from Kennedy’s formative years,” RR Auction executive vice president Bobby Livingston said.
