Boston Police Department Reveals Name For New K-9 Puppy

BOSTON (CBS) – The newest member of the Boston Police Department's K-9 Unit officially has a name.

On Friday the department announced that it selected Viggo as the name for its new K-9 puppy.

Head K-9 Trainer Officer Troy Caisey was joined by children from the Jr. Police Academy as they announced the name for the 10-week-old Belgian Shepherd puppy.

Earlier this week police revealed a list of the final 10 name candidates.

Police initially asked the public for suggestions on what they should name the dog, and received more than 20,000 suggestions.
