Donald Trump's Ice Bucket Challenge Comments Don't Warrant Response, Walsh Says

BOSTON (CBS) -- The war of words between Donald Trump and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh continues.

Last week, the Republican presidential candidate called Walsh a clown after the mayor invited Trump to take the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.

"Look he's a clown, Marty Walsh, I don't even know who he is this guy, Marty Walsh," Trump said. "He spends all this time and effort and money on an Olympic bid and then he goes out and he's talking about ice bucket challenges, get a real mayor."

On Sunday, Walsh told reporters that those comments weren't worth addressing.

"He honestly doesn't warrant a response," Walsh said. "We're asking people to continue to do [the Ice Bucket Challenge] to raise awareness, if people want to make outrageous comments, let them make outrageous comments."

Walsh dumped a bucket of ice water on his head outside City Hall on Friday after he was challenged by Gov. Charlie Baker.

The mayor said he'd rather call on people to donate to the cause that former Boston College baseball captain Pete Frates has championed than talk about Trump's White House chances.

"We can see what happens, I'm not really worried about him, his candidacy," Walsh said. "I'm asking people to donate."
