Landing Aborted Before Plane Crash Killed Boston Executive & Daughter, Says NTSB

BOSTON (CBS) - Federal investigators released a preliminary report Tuesday on the deadly crash that killed a Boston executive and his daughter last month in Wisconsin.

Joseph Trustey of Wenham and his daughter Anna were the only people on board the single-engine passenger plane that crashed and caught fire at Milwaukee's Timmerman Airport July 29.

NTSB investigators said when Trustey aborted his landing, the plane's propeller hit the runway, the engine made a squealing noise, and then the plane appeared to stall.

Seconds later it crashed to the ground.

The exact cause of the crash is still not known. The NTSB's final report is not expected for months.

Joe Trustey was a managing director and chief operating officer of Summit Partners in Boston.

He and his daughter were traveling to the Midwest for a college visit tour.
