Edelman, Slater Among Injured Patriots Returning To Practice On Monday

BOSTON (CBS) -- Just as some were starting to get worried about the ever-growing list of injured Patriots, a handful of those walking wounded returned to the field on Monday.

Most notably was wide receiver Julian Edelman, who has missed last week with an apparent leg or foot injury. Edelman was back on the field, in full pads on Monday, with most of New England breathing a sigh of relief.

Edelman led New England with 92 receptions and was second on the team with 972 receiving yards last season.

Edelman wasn't the only Patriot to return on Monday. Special teams captain Matthew Slater, who began Training Camp on the PUP list, made his debut and receiver Brian Tyms, who was carted off the field last week with a shoulder injury, was also back on the field on Monday. Both were sporting red, no contact jerseys for Monday's session.

Rookie Malcom Brown, who suffered an injury on Friday, also returned to the field on Monday.

The Patriots open their preseason schedule Thursday night when they host the Green Bay Packers at Gillette Stadium.

Catch every Patriots preseason game on 98.5 The Sports Hub and WBZ-TV -- the flagship stations of the New England Patriots. Pregame coverage on 98.5FM begins three hours prior to each game, with Patriots GameDay beginning 30 minutes prior to games on WBZ-TV.
