Man Seriously Injured In Roxbury Shooting

BOSTON (CBS) – Elaine Santiago wants people to pray for her boyfriend, 20-year-old Raul Ortiz, who was shot in the head early Saturday morning in front of his Roxbury home.

"Two gentlemen came up in opposite directions and they were shooting," she told WBZ-TV's Paul Burton on Saturday, "Exactly where and how I don't know. I was not here."

Neighbors and family say they heard multiple shots.

The suspects then fled the area.

On Saturday, Mayor Marty Walsh discussed violence that has been taking place in the area.

"It seems like once a week we have a serious shooting like this," he said.

"We've had for the most part a very good, quiet week, and then again last night we have a shooting."

Elaine says Raul was just sitting out on his porch around 2 a.m., minding his own business when out of nowhere shots rang out.

She says her boyfriend has no enemies and can't imagine why someone would try and take his life.

"I have no idea," she said. "He wasn't a troublemaker...He's a family guy."

Raul was taken to Brigham and Women's Hospital where he's surrounded by family.

"All we care about now is his health, him getting better," Elaine said.

The shooting happened nearly 200 yards away from police headquarters.

Elaine asks the community for their thoughts.

"Have my boyfriend in your prayers," she said, "And stop the violence."

No arrests have been made.

The shooting remains under investigation.
