Darrelle Revis: Tom Brady Should Take Four-Game Suspension And 'Live With It'

BOSTON (CBS) -- Darrelle Revis readily admits that he doesn't have all the facts, yet he's not afraid to fire off some pretty strong opinions about Tom Brady and DeflateGate.

The former Patriots cornerback has gone full Jet since rejoining New York this offseason, saying back in May that the Patriots have "been doing stuff in the past and getting in trouble" while showing zero sympathy for Brady.

Since then, his mother was denied an invitation to Robert Kraft's Super Bowl ring party, and on Thursday, Revis doubled down on his harsh opinion toward Brady.

"I think it's dragged a little bit too far, you know. It's a little bit too much," Revis said on ESPN on Thursday. "I feel that he got the suspension, the four games, and, you know, live with it."

Revis was asked in a follow-up if that means he believes Brady should drop the appeal and simply accept the suspension.

"I think so, yeah. I mean, I think so," Revis said. "It's already, I mean, I don't think you can over -- try to over ... I mean, yeah, he's trying to overturn it. I think him and his team is trying to do the best thing to overturn it, but I mean, Roger [Goodell] already gave him the suspension ... and I guess he's trying to state his case that he's innocent, so, I guess we'll see Wednesday."

While Revis seemed to be keenly aware that Brady and the NFLPA have a scheduled meeting with Roger Goodell and the NFL in front of Judge Richard Berman on Aug. 12, he claimed to not have followed the case all that closely.

"I don't know all the information. I don't know everything about the whole situation," Revis said. "But Tom, I know he's a competitor, I know he wants to win, and it's unfortunate what's going on right now with the situation, and I mean, we'll see Wednesday how this pans out. But overall, I just think it's dragged on a little bit too long with the whole, you know, DeflateGate."

Revis also recalled for Skip Bayless and Stephen A. Smith that Brady addressed the team when the accusations first came out, saying that Brady "seemed like he was very hurt about what was being said about DeflateGate and what was being said about him."

Revis was asked if Brady's message to the team was more believable than the answers he gave in his press conference.

"Yeah, he did. He sounded like his approach was really, like he felt like very hurt by it and that he was being accused of something he didn't do," Revis said.

So to recap: Revis tended to believe in Brady's innocence last January, he hasn't kept up on all the information that's come out but does know the next court date, and he thinks Brady should lay down and accept the four-game suspension no matter what. That's some impenetrable Jets logic at play right there.
