BACON! Phantom Gourmet's Great 8 Spots For Bacon Lovers

Crispy, crunchy and oh-so-delicious. Bacon makes just about everything taste better. These are Phantom's picks for the 8 Greatest places for bacon lovers!

David Burke Prime
Foxwoods

Kicking off the Great 8 is David Burke Prime at Foxwoods Resort Casino. This bold, beautiful restaurant is the creation of celebrity chef David Burke. His dishes range from traditional, to inventive, to downright insane. And nothing is more over-the-top than the Maple Glazed Double Cut Pepper Bacon, because it's served in a way you'd never imagine.

"Well it's little wooden dowels which we had made for us. And then we hang it actually with clothespins, on a clothesline, so it's bacon on a clothesline."

Ward 8
North End

Another Great 8 winner is Ward 8 on the edge of Boston's North End, featuring dim lighting, rustic wooden tables and an exposed brick wall. Located just blocks from the Garden, Ward 8 offers everything from post-work cocktails to pre-game meals. But no matter the occasion, you'll want to start with an order of Bacon Cashew Caramel Corn.

Scratch Kitchen
Salem, Mass.

Scratch Kitchen in Salem, Mass is a casual, comfortable spot, where everything is made - from scratch. They make their own ketchup; they make their own pickles; and for the BLT's, they actually make their own bacon, from scratch, right in the smoker.

Rye & Thyme
Leominster

Rye & Thyme in downtown Leominster is a big, bustling tavern that pays homage to American spirits, fresh-shucked shellfish, and juicy meats cooked over a wood fire grill. The signature appetizer is the thick-cut Wood Roasted Slab Bacon, which may not look too pretty, but it more than makes up for it in terms of flavor - especially when paired with a refreshing craft beer or top-shelf bourbon.

Oysters
Pembroke

Oysters in Pembroke may be located in a strip mall, but the interior is stylish and contemporary, with a menu boasting dishes like Portuguese Clams with white wine and linguica, and juicy Steak Frites with hand-cut parmesan fries. Phantom always starts with their inventive spin on Scallops and Bacon. It's deconstructed and delicious.

"We do delicious pan-seared scallops, crispy bacon and a bacon burre blanc sauce."

Teresa's Prime
North Reading

Another Great 8 winner is Teresa's Prime in North Reading. This upscale suburban steak house is gorgeous from the outside and inside, with dark woods, a cherry bar and an open kitchen. And while the steaks are second to none, their triple cut bacon appetizer is a must-order.

"We slow cook it for about four hours, very, very low heat, render the fat. As it comes out and cools, then we flash it under the salamander with a bourbon Makers Mark bourbon glaze. So you get that real crisp layer on the outside, almost like creme brulee. Then as you get into the center it gets, you know, tender and soft."

Regal Beagle
Brookline

The Regal Beagle in Coolidge Corner, Brookline is a neighborhood spot serving all the foods you love. Named after the fictional hangout on the classic TV series Three's Company, this version of The Beagle definitely makes every customer feel like a regular. And if you're looking for a bacon fix, order some of their Bacon Wrapped Dates. The bite sized snacks are stuffed with blue cheese, providing perfect balance of sweet, salty, and savory.

Greenside Grill
Hingham

Rounding out the Great 8 is the Greenside Grill. Located in the main club house at the South Shore Country Club in Hingham, the menu covers almost as much ground as the 18-hole golf course, with pizzas, tacos and their signature Black & Blue Burger smothered in bacon onion jam.
