Woman Killed In Hudson Motorcycle Crash

HUDSON (CBS) – A Lowell woman was killed in a motorcycle crash overnight, but was not discovered until later in the morning by a passing jogger.

Hudson Police were called to Brigham Street Saturday morning just before 9 a.m. when a jogger discovered a woman who had apparently crashed her motorcycle and was not breathing.

Officers who arrived at the scene determined that the woman had crashed sometime overnight.

She had not been discovered because the motorcycle crashed off the roadway and the driver went down a small embankment and ended up in a swampy area.

Police identified the driver as Amber Zapatka, 27, of Lowell. She was declared dead at the scene.

The cause of the accident is not yet known, but police said it appears the woman failed to negotiate a turn in the roadway and skidded off the opposite side of the road.

Anyone with information about Zapatka or where she may have been Friday night is asked to call Hudson Police at (978) 562-7122.
