Sen. Elizabeth Warren Calls Donald Trump A 'Blowhard' Over McCain Comments

BOSTON (CBS) -- Sen. Elizabeth Warren pulled no punches in her thoughts on Donald Trump's comments about her Senate colleague.

"Calling John McCain anything other than a hero is just Donald Trump being a blowhard," Warren said at an economic roundtable in Boston Monday.

Trump said Saturday that the former prisoner of war was "not a war hero."

Warren praised other Republicans for jumping on Trump after the comments about McCain, but blasted them for remaining silent regarding Trump's immigration remarks.

"Where were they when Donald Trump shot off his mouth about Mexican-Americans? Where was he then? The answer was they hid in the shadows," Warren said.

Warren also said she's spent a lot of time reviewing the nuclear deal with Iran, and said the U.S. should put resources into making sure that Iran does not receive a nuclear weapon.

"This accord moves us strongly in that direction," she said. "If others have an alternative path that they want to spell out, a military solution, then they need to put it on the table."

Asked if she would give her support to Hillary Clinton's presidential run, Warren said she is still listening to candidates lay out their issues.
