Maine Police Searching For Sex Offender After Multiple Shootings
LEE, Maine (AP) — State police say a former convict sought in the shootings of four people in three northern Maine communities has been taken into custody.
Police said Friday that 35-year-old Anthony Lord was arrested in Houlton. They say a woman being held with him is safe.
Dozens of law enforcement officers were searching for Lord, who is believed to have stolen a logging truck before the overnight shootings in the towns of Lee, Benedicta and Silver Ridge.
More details are expected to be released at an afternoon news conference.
Police didn't identify the victims or provide information about their conditions.
They say Lord has a criminal record that includes convictions for domestic assault, criminal threatening and assault. He's also on the state's sex-offender registry.
