Gray Fox Likely Culprit In Vicious Natick Attacks

NATICK (CBS) — A rabid fox attack has Natick Police warning the public to be vigilant for the next few days.

Twelve-year-old Atlantis Shagoury said it went after her Saturday night. "I felt its teeth in my skin."

She has bite marks on her foot and arm. "I turned around, something gray and furry was on my leg, so I started screaming," she said.

That's when her father ran out to help. "I just saw it hanging from her arm, then I grabbed it. I chucked it on the ground, and then it leaped back on top of her."

Police have not found the fox, but say it was probably the same one that went after a pregnant woman in a parking lot across the street. She fended the animal off with her purse before it scratched her.

Natick's animal control officer said it is probably dead by now, but could have possibly infected other wild animals in the area.

Shagoury is now going through a series of rabies shots, and taking antibiotics. Other than a few bruises, she says she feels OK.
