QUINCY (CBS) – Quincy Police say toys that were going to be donated to Boston Children’s Hospital were recently stolen.

At about 8 a.m. on Thursday police found several doors smashed or pried open inside Fore River Clubhouse on Nevada Road.

The person who reported the incident said the break-in happened some time after June 30.

One of the rooms in the building belongs to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.

Police said eight adult bicycles, several remote control toys, and other toys were stolen from the room. The items had been collected through donations and were going to be donated to Boston Children’s Hospital.

Several tools were also stolen from another part of the building.

There was no sign of forced entry on the outside of the facilty, which had been open for public access to restrooms during the Fourth of July weekend.

“As we know there are so many generous and compassionate citizens in our community, we anticipate many of you will be asking how you can help and/or make a donation,” Quincy Police said. “We will get you that information as soon as possible. For the time being, lets concentrate on finding out who is responsible for stealing these items.”

Anyone with more information is asked to call police at (617) 745-5782.
