Motorcycles Crash In Yarmouth, Father Dead, Daughter And Brother Hurt

YARMOUTH (CBS) – One man was killed and his daughter and brother were among three seriously hurt when two motorcycles crashed on the Cape early Friday morning.

It happened near the intersection of Route 28 and Old Main Street in South Yarmouth just after 1 a.m.

According to Yarmouth Police, both Harley Davidsons were turning right onto Old Main Street when one of them hit a curb and lost control. That forced the other cycle out of control.

When officers arrived they found both motorcycles heavily damaged on the ground, one man in cardiac arrest and the three others seriously injured.

The driver of the cycle that hit the curb, 48-year-old Bruce Fernandes of Pascoag, Rhode Island, died.

His passenger, his 24-year-old daughter Brittany Fernandes, was rushed to Cape Cod Hospital for treatment of severe leg and head injuries.

The two people on the other motorcycle, 45-year-old Scott Fernandes of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, and his passenger, 25-year-old Amy Tessier of Pascoag, also went to the hospital where they were treated for "non-life threatening injuries," according to police.

Scott Fernandez is the brother of Bruce.

"The Yarmouth Police Department extends our condolences to the Fernandes Family," police said in a statement.
