Police: Man Being Evicted Rams Dudley Garage With Car

DUDLEY (CBS) – Police say a man who was evicted from a Dudley garage space rammed his car several times into the building.

Dudley police arrived at on West Main Street after a report of a car crashing into a building in the area. Officers found a physical altercation was also taking place at the same time.

According to police, 40-year-old Andy Nelson was being restrained by several people near the building.

Nelson had been renting a garage space at the West Main Street building, but had been officially evicted on Tuesday. The building's landlord had been in Worcester Superior Court earlier in the day.

Witnesses told police that at about 9:10 p.m., Nelson drove his 2009 Hyundai Sonata from West Main Street into the building.

The Dudley man then allegedly backed up and drove at the building at least two more times.

Dudley police said the building has apartments connected to it and there were residents home at the time.

No one was injured during the incident, though the building is believed to have been moved from its foundation.

Police arrested Dudley and charged him with assault by means of a dangerous weapon, wantonly injuring real or personal property, disorderly conduct, and disturbing the peace, along with motor vehicle charges.

Nelson was held on $500 cash bail and brought to Dudley District Court to be arraigned on Wednesday morning.
