NH Man Charged With Shooting Fireworks At Maintenance Workers

MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) – A New Hampshire man was arrested for allegedly shooting fireworks out his apartment window at a pair of maintenance workers.

Manchester police were called to Silver Street on Thursday morning when a woman said she was sitting on her couch and an unknown object smashed her window.

When the woman looked outside, she saw a man "peering" out the window of the house across the street.

Police entered the Lincoln Street apartment where the woman reportedly saw the man.

When contacted by phone, Thomas Stokes, 28, initially told officers he was not home at the time of the incident.

After searching Stokes' apartment, however, police determined that he was home along with his girlfriend.

According to police, Stokes opened his window and shot multiple "roman candle" fireworks in the direction of two men who had been on a lift performing maintenance work on upper level apartments at the Silver Street Towers property.

The men told Manchester police they felt hot embers and heard loud noises as they worked about 30 feet above the ground.

One of the workers told the other to duck when he watched Stokes allegedly shoot the firework in their direction.

After speaking to all three victims, police arrested Stokes and charged him with reckless conduct, criminal mischief, false report to law enforcement officer, along with detention and sanctions for default of breach condition.
