MBTA To Remove 'Honor Box' Pay To Park System

BOSTON (CBS) -- The MBTA is eliminating its pay-to-park boxes calling the practice 'archaic,' the transit authority announced Monday.

For years, commuters have stuffed money into the 'honor box' slots as a parking payment method.

Starting July 6, drivers will either have to use the PayByPhone method or invest in a monthly permit to park. Monthly permits could save daily lot users up to $30.00 a month, according to the MBTA.

Visit the MBTA's parking page for full details.
