Keefer Madness: A Tribute To The Late Dusty Rhodes
BOSTON (CBS) - Sadly, the world said goodbye to wrestling legend Dusty Rhodes on Thursday.
"The American Dream" passed away at the age of 69, and on Thursday night's Keefer Madness, 98.5 The Sports Hub's Rich Keefe gave the sports icon a proper tribute.
"The beauty about this guy is that he was the regular man. He was just the average guy. People loved him. When he was a great face character, or a good guy, he was amazing. His body was just a mess. Just not good; definitely eggplant-y. He spoke with a lisp. He had a dyed hair job. But he was passionate and more charismatic than maybe anybody else," Keefe said Thursday.
Adding, "He was an every-man. 'The son of a plumber' is how he billed himself. People could relate to this guy. When he showed up in the WWF he wore black tights with yellow polka dots. People were like this guy is great. But he looked ridiculous! He looked like a bumblebee out there! But people didn't care."
Famously, Dusty Rhodes was also known as one of the best talkers in wrestling history.
