BOSTON (AP) — A Superior Court jury has begun deliberating in the case of a Boston man charged with kidnapping and killing a woman and assaulting two others.
Jurors began discussing the case of Edwin Alemany on Friday after hearing closing arguments. A verdict wasn’t reached and deliberations are to resume Monday.
Alemany is charged with kidnapping and killing 24-year-old Amy Lord in July 2013. Prosecutors say Lord — a Wilbraham native living in South Boston — was beaten and forced to drive her SUV to several ATMs to withdraw money. She was then forced to drive to a reservation where she was killed.
Alemany is also charged with assaulting two women before and after Lord’s slaying.
Alemany’s attorney told the jury his client should be found not guilty by reason of insanity.
