Man Rescued From Sand Collapse On Martha's Vineyard Beach

EDGARTOWN (CBS) – Police on Martha's Vineyard are reminding the public about the dangers of digging holes at the beach after a person got buried on Thursday.

Edgartown Police say a man dug a six to eight foot deep hole at Norton Point Beach and it caved in on him.

His friends were able to clear enough sand away to establish an airway.

Edgartown Fire personnel used shovels and a backhoe to dig the man out.

No other information was released.
