Tom Brady Plays In Best Buddies Challenge

BOSTON (CBS) – Tom Brady was one of several football players to participate in the Best Buddies Challenge on Friday night at Harvard Stadium.

Brady appeared relaxed and cheerful as he played quarterback for both teams made up of special athletes, NFL players and other celebrities. He thanked the crowd for attending the game.

Several current and former New England Patriots players attended the game to help raise money for the charity which creates job opportunities and leadership training for people with intellectual and physical disabilities.

For 19-year-old Nick Giovinazzo of Stoughton, the event was a dream come true.

"It was really fun," he said. "I had so much fun. Tom is one of the best players out there."

Actor Michael Chiklis gave Brady a pat on the back before kickoff.

"It's just great to see him, and I was just saying 'Hey man, I'm proud of everything you do. You've had such an incredible run and lending support," he told WBZ News Radio 1030's Bernice Corpuz.

Fans chanted Brady's name and many of them wore his number 12 jersey, while others like Laurie LaPointe wore a "Free Brady" t-shirt.

"I think he shouldn't be penalized in any way for whatever happened," she said.

Brady declined to speak with media at halftime and after the game about his four-game suspension and appeal.
