Driver Passing In Wrong Lane Crashes Into Cohasset Police Cruiser

COHASSET (CBS) -- A Cohasset police officer was hurt Monday morning after a driver slammed into his cruiser while attempting to pass.

Both vehicles were traveling North on 3A near Brewster Road around 9:30a.m. The officer had his emergency lights on and was attempting to turn left when a 50-year old woman from Marshfield tried passed on the left in the wrong lane. She crashed into the driver's side of the cruiser.

According to police, the driver thought the officer was just stopping or pulling right. She was cited for failing to yield for an emergency vehicle and following too closely on a state highway.

The officer checked into a hospital with minor injuries and was later released.
