Task Force Formed After Reports Of Suspicious Man Approaching Children

HOPKINTON (CBS) -- A task force has been formed after a series of troubling reports in central Massachusetts about a man acting suspiciously around children.

There are similarities in all of the reports, including the description of the suspect and his car.

Hopkinton is the latest community to warn children to be aware of their surroundings.

Hopkinton Police Chief Edward Lee says the reports often describe a man with light or gray hair in a gray, four-door sedan who approaches children.

"A situation like this, you just need to attack it with all hands on deck," he said. "Especially when it comes to children."

Other communities in the task force include Bellingham, Blackstone, Hopkinton, Mendon, Northbridge, Upton and Uxbridge,

Lee said parents should tell their children to "Go, yell and tell" if they are approached by a stranger.

"It doesn't have to be a sinister or evil looking person," Lee said. "In no situation should any adults be approaching children and asking for directions, information or looking for a lost dog."
