Rusney Castillo In Red Sox Lineup vs. Angels

BOSTON (CBS) -- Rusney Castillo is making his long-awaited return to the major leagues.

The Red Sox promoted Castillo from Triple-A on Friday, assigning outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. back to Pawtucket. Castillo will bat eighth and start in right field Friday night as the Red Sox begin a three-game series against the Angels.

Castillo returned from paternity leave on Thursday, going 1-for-6 with a run scored and RBI in a 10-inning, 6-5 PawSox loss in Louisville.

In 18 games for Pawtucket, Castillo put up a .293/.341/.440 split with a pair of home runs, eight runs scored and 10 RBI. He split time at DH and in the outfield, playing nine games in center field (eight starts) and six in right.

The Red Sox signed Castillo last August to a seven-year deal worth $72.5 million. The Cuban appeared in 10 games for the Red Sox last season, batting .333 (12-for-36) with one double, two home runs, three walks and six strikeouts.
