Keller @ Large: No Integrity In NFL
BOSTON (CBS) - "Integrity; noun: adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty."
Hmm. Let's take a look at the National Football League and see how they measure up to this standard they allegedly hold so dear.
For the overwhelming majority of its players, the NFL relies on a de facto farm system known as college football, a system in which unqualified students are routinely admitted, coddled, funneled into gut courses, protected from the consequences of their illegal actions (see Winston, Jameis), and given completely undeserved diplomas, in exchange for the revenue their football teams generate.
Integrity rating: zero.
As fans in Baltimore, St. Louis and Cleveland can attest, the NFL has long been in the habit of letting franchises abandon longstanding fan bases for more lucrative profit margins in other cities, in the case of Baltimore, splitting town in the middle of the night one jump ahead of the cops.
Nope, no integrity there.
For decades the NFL refused to acknowledge the epidemic of concussions caused by the violence that is its primary selling point. Two years ago, its crack legal team settled an avalanche of lawsuits by paying off more than 18,000 former players without acknowledging legal liability.
No ethics or moral principles in sight.
The NFL is notorious for its questionable officiating, its glorification of violence, and its unique stature as a game where cheating occurs on every play.
And yet the clowns who run it have the gall to indict Tom Brady's integrity?
I'll give the NFL this much – they are unintentionally hilarious.
