OXFORD (CBS) – State Police have identified the vehicle that a wheelbarrow fell out of causing a crash that killed a man Saturday afternoon in Oxford.
The crash occurred north of Exit 5 of Route 395 southbound around 1 p.m.
Police say a woman was traveling on Route 395 south when she saw the wheelbarrow in the left travel lane. She was able to drive around the wheelbarrow to avoid a collision.
However, 32-year-old Steven Richards, who was driving behind the woman, was killed trying to avoid the wheelbarrow. Richards leaves behind a wife, a 7-year-old daughter, and a 3-year-old son.
He was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the accident. No charges have been filed against the driver of the vehicle carrying the wheelbarrow.
A GoFundMe page has been created to support the Richards family.
