NH Police: Man Slashed Over Paint Job
SALEM, N.H. (CBS) -- A New Hampshire man is accused of slashing another man over a bad painting job.
Salem police responded to a Haverhill Road home just before 11 p.m. on Saturday for a reported burglary and assault.
Police say 38-year-old David R. Konze, of Greenland, entered the victim's house through an unlocked door.
"It was a wild scene from what we understand," Lt. Rob Morin told WBZ-TV's Jim Smith on Sunday."It was a violent altercation in the kitchen."
A "violent physical fight" ensued, and Konze allegedly used a knife he brought to slash a 6-inch laceration in the victim's abdomen, according to police. The wound is not believed to be life-threatening.
Police say Konze fled into the woods, where police were able to arrest him and locate a small sheath knife hanging from a branch.
Konze is charged with burglary, first-degree assault, criminal threatening and falsifying physical evidence.
"As a result of the investigation officers learned the suspect and victim knew each other and were arguing over a painting job the victim had been hired to complete," Salem police said.
He is in jail and scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
