ASHLAND (CBS) — A truck crashed into a pole in Ashland Monday afternoon and burst into flames, sending thick black smoke high into the air.

The truck driver sustained only minor injuries.

Ashland police posted photos of the crash on West Union Street. The incident closed the road as firefighters worked to battle the flames.

The fire tied up traffic and shifted dismissal at the middle school to the MBTA Access Road.

Police said Route 135 will be closed in both directions from Union at West Union to West Union at Frankland Road for several hours.
