First-bumping Young Fan Named Hero Of Rev's Match

FOXBORO (CBS) -- Boston's favorite young fan was honored by the New England Revolution in a special pregame ceremony Saturday night.

Nine-year-old Liam Fitzgerald has Down Syndrome and has successfully battled cancer. In November, a video of him receiving fist bumps from Bruins players leaving the ice after a pregame skate went viral.

Liam got plenty of fist bumps from Revs players and mascot Slyde before the match against the New York Red Bulls at Gillette Stadium. He also scored his own custom jersey, and took a victory lap to thank fans.

The team awards a "Hero of the Match" before every home game to someone making a difference in their community.

Last month, Liam was honored by the Bruins and given a $23,000 check for his charitable campaign.
