The Warmth Exits

2015 Calendar March

After a couple of warm days this week, it looks like the rest of the month will get blue squares meaning below average temperatures. April will still likely go into the record books with a mean temperature slightly above average which is close to April of 2014 which was flat. That was followed by May coming in at 0.8 degrees above average. With the global factors in play now, I am expecting this May to be a bit warmer with the mean temperature coming in at 1-1.5 degrees above average.

2015 Pattern2In the meantime, we must endure this stretch ahead of somewhat cooler than average conditions thanks to the upper level low pressure anchored over the Northeast. This is a pool of cool, unstable air which will enable clouds to develop and pass across the sky from time to time. Minor perturbations in the atmosphere spinning amidst this circulation will trigger a few widely scattered mostly light showers or sprinkles each and every day but much of the time it will be dry and periodically the sun will shine brightly. Later Friday into Saturday, a stronger storm will develop way out over the Atlantic then pinwheel into the Maritimes and eventually kick a lobe of moisture into New England on Monday. So expect more widespread and longer-lasting showers on Monday into Tuesday. After that, it may turn a bit milder later next week with the debut of May.

2015 Pollen PMWhile the weather will not be all that warm over the next week, the greening of the lawns and the budding of the shrubs and trees kick in. Unfortunately, that is a problem for so many that suffer from tree pollen which will be in the high range for the next several days. There is a lot of yard work to do for many of us. Oh joy, oh joy! Gee, in the winter, I didn't have to worry about my yard or allergies or ticks. Every season has its positives and negatives!

Make it a good day!
