Johnny Depp Takes On Whitey Bulger Role In 'Black Mass' Trailer

BOSTON (CBS) -- The first movie trailer for Black Mass reveals Johnny Depp as Whitey Bulger.

WBZ-TV watched the trailer with Patricia Donahue.

"Without the tragedy of our victims, there wouldn't be a movie," said Donahue.

Whitey Bulger killed her husband, Michael Donahue. He was giving a friend a ride home who Bulger targeted.

"Nobody knows anything about the victims or cares about the victims," said Donahue.

For Donahue, going through Whitey Bulger's trial was hard enough. What she's seen of the movie is unbearable. She said she sees Hollywood glamorizing a killer at the expense of her husband and family. Not once, she said, did anyone from the movie reach out.

"They should have enough decency to go to the families and tell them. We're not asking for anything," said Donahue.

The movie trailer refers to Bulger as the most notorious gangster.

Bill "Touchie" McDonough who owns Shamrock Pub, thinks Hollywood gives Bulger too much credit. He's seen how South Boston has changed since Bulger's days more than 20 years ago.

"It was here. It's gone. Unless it wasn't on TV and the trial was on TV no one would know about it," said McDonough.

He'd like to move on, as Patricia Donahue would like Bulger's story to stay in the past.

"We just want a little respect for the people who were killed," said Donahue.
