Zolak & Bertrand: Hanley Ramirez Tapped Out Of Patriots' Day Game

BOSTON (CBS) - The Boston Red Sox only played seven innings before rain shortened their Patriots' Day matinee against the Baltimore Orioles -- outfielder Hanley Ramirez only played three.

The Red Sox left fielder left in the top of the third due to an illness which later was reported to be as a result of the cold weather. Ramirez only made one plate appearance in the game, in which he grounded out to first. He was replaced by Allen Craig.

98.5 The Sports Hub's Scott Zolak and Marc Bertrand discussed Ramirez's questionable early departure from Monday's game to start their show on Tuesday.

"You ever hear of cold weather causing dizziness?" asked Bertrand.

"Never in my life," said Zolak.

This is Ramirez's first year back with the Red Sox since starting his career with the team in 2005. The radio duo noted that a questionable disappearance from Ramirez is unacceptable, especially since he signed a four year, $88 million deal in the offseason with the Sox.

"This is the third week of the season. And the third week that he's back here, making the money that he's making, and he's bailing on the game because it's cold outside?" said Bertrand.

Zolak and Bertrand drew comparisons to Manny Ramirez, who was a talented player for the Red Sox despite being a distraction and not always giving a valiant effort. Oddly enough, Hanley Ramirez and Manny Ramirez are neighbors in Miami, Florida.

"He's not as good as Manny Ramirez. So the tolerance level for this nonsense is less," said Bertrand.

Is Hanley Ramirez going to be a problem for the Red Sox this season?
