Actor Sean Astin Describes 'Electricity Of Greatness' After Greeting Richard Family

BOSTON (CBS) -- Actor and director Sean Astin planned to end his Boston Marathon run on "a note of reverence" to honor the youngest victim of the Boston Marathon bombings, 8-year-old Martin Richard. But he told his Facebook followers Tuesday he "lost it" when he greeted Martin's mother Denise and his sister Jane after the race.

"Something wonderful happens inside when the electricity of greatness visits you," Astin, who was part of Team MR8, wrote on his Facebook page.

"This family, no fear, not a shred of perceptible anxiety, even if they privately had some," the "Rudy" star wrote. "What an incredible demonstration, not just of resilience and faith and goodness, but of grace and wisdom."

He finished with a time of 4 hours and 50 minutes on Monday.

Astin returned to the start line after the marathon and cycled the route to Boston.
