Runner Knocked Down By Bombs In 2013 Returns To Boston Marathon
BOSTON (CBS) -- The runner knocked down when bombs went off two years ago has returned to finish the Boston Marathon again.
Bill Iffrig, of Washington, is back in Boston and ran the race in 4 hours and 23 minutes.
Iffrig was 20 feet from the finish line in April 2013 when the bombs went off. A photo of him on the ground in front of Boston police officers was seen around the world.
Iffrig is 80 years old this year and said before the race that he wanted to win his age group.
"It's gonna be great," Iffrig said. "I remember even last time that I got around that corner, and oh boy, there's the finish line and I've got a little steam left in me.
"I am going to go for it, so that's a great feeling."
