Phantom Gourmet: Pizza-Flavored Snacks Taste Test

BOSTON (CBS) -- Phantom recently purchased four packages of pizza-flavored snacks at a local supermarket. The zesty contenders were Combos, Goldfish, Lance, and Pringles. See if you can guess which brand ended up at the top of the food chain.

Pepperidge Farm pizza flavored goldfish finished in last place. These dark orange fish-shaped crackers looked like they were specked with spices, but tasted like they were simply smothered in salt. Any possible hints of pizza flavor fell flat, making this a snack that sleeps with the fishes.

A step up from there are pizza-flavored Pringles. Phantom couldn't wait to stick his purple glove into this classic tubular package, but what he pulled out was a bit of mixed bag. These chips are partially coated in orange dust, but Phantom thinks they should have used a heavier hand with that seasoning. What little flavor he did taste included plenty of sweetness, with slight notes of tomato, but this certainly isn't something you would mistake for pizza.

The runner-up is Combos pizzeria pretzel. As soon as he opened the bag, Phantom was hit in the face with a pleasant whiff of pizza spices. Unfortunately, when it came to flavor, these tasty little nuggets didn't pack as much of a punch. On the upside, this addictive snack does deliver that signature combos texture that's crunchy on the outside, with soft creamy cheese in the middle.

At the top of the food chain is Lance Bolds cracker sandwiches. These individually wrapped packs are a bit of a pain to open, but you will definitely be rewarded for your efforts, with crackers stuffed with a cheese bursting with pizza flavor. There's zesty tomato, tons of oregano, and plenty of tangy cheese. While these crackers may not taste like the best pizza you've ever had, they don't taste like the worst one either.

That's why Lance Bolds pizza flavored cracker sandwiches are at the top of the food chain.
