Third High School Reports Emailed Threats

BROCKTON (CBS) -- High schools in Brockton and Whitman were closed Monday because of emailed threats, officials said.

The threats received at Brockton High School and Whitman-Hanson Regional High School Monday morning are believed to have been from the same source, but that hasn't been confirmed by police, Brockton schools spokeswoman Jocelyn Meeks said.

Later on Monday, Cardinal Spellman High School, a private institution, said it also received threats after school was in session. The school said it would stay in session, but canceled afterschool activities and enacted "stay in place" protocol.

"After consultation with the Brockton Police and their Risk Management Team, we do not believe there is any credible threat," Cardinal Spellman said on its Facebook page. "However, you, as parents, may choose to pick up your child at any time during the day."

Brockton High School students were evacuated to nearby Campanelli and Marciano stadiums, Meeks said.

This is the third threat received at Brockton High School since March 20.

The threats are being investigated by police.
