4 Arrested For Fights After Wampanoag Ball

FALMOUTH (AP) — Falmouth police say four people have been arrested after several fights broke out after the Wampanoag Ball at a Cape Cod resort on Saturday night.

Police said Sunday officers working security for the 19th annual event at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel called for backup just after midnight. Officers from nearby police departments responded along with sheriff's officers and state police.

Police said several people also became "aggressive" when they were trapped for about an hour in an elevator in which people were smoking.

Police didn't release the names of those arrested or charges they faced.

Mashpee Wampanoag tribal spokesman George Regan said the ball had ended and most tribe members had left when the disturbances broke out. He called the rowdy behavior "unacceptable" and said the tribe is cooperating with police.
