Snow Falls On First Day Of Spring In Massachusetts

PLYMOUTH (CBS) - The calendar may say it's spring, but the weather isn't cooperating.

"Technically, it's the first thing of spring, physically, absolutely not. It's snowing," said Ashley Kimball, Manager at Wood's Seafood.

"I don't know why it'd be snowing now. It's supposed to be 70 out. The flowers are supposed to bloom," said Bill Bill Greenlaw of Kingston.

The snow began falling on the South Coast shortly before 6 p.m., and by nightfall, more than an inch had accumulated.

Many, like Eileen Penney, can't wait to put the winter that was behind.

"My roof caved in in one spot. I've had to replace several ceilings in the house. The ice dams were monumental," said Penney of Hanson.
