Donations Pouring In For Chelmsford Hockey Coach Undergoing Cancer Treatment
CHELMSFORD (CBS) – Mike McGrath, the head coach of the Chelmsford High School boys hockey team, is in a fight against cancer. And fundraising efforts in town have shown that he is far from alone in his fight.

McGrath had a tumor removed from his throat in February and is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
In his absence, the Lions skated their way to the North Division 1 hockey semifinal as they played to honor their ailing coach.
About two weeks ago, an online fundraising campaign was started to support McGrath and his family through the coach's cancer treatments.
"While Mike is certainly one of the physically strongest and mentally toughest men you will ever meet, no one should have to beat this disease alone," the page's creator wrote. "Given the considerable financial burden of hospital stays, testing, treatments, medications and travel costs, I am hopeful we can all come together to show Mike and his family that they have our unwavering support."
In only 12 days, the fundraising page has raised nearly $14,000 for the McGrath family thanks to 77 donors. The goal of the fundraiser is to collect $50,000.
