Bruins Defenseman Torey Krug Optimistic About Upcoming Tests

BOSTON (CBS) - Boston Bruins defenseman Torey Krug joined Zolak & Bertrand on 98.5 The Sports Hub Wednesday afternoon to talk about his team's morale heading into the home stretch of the regular season.

The Bruins are coming off a frustrating 2-1 shootout loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night, but they still hold a four-point lead over Ottawa for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

"We feel like we're doing the right things, but then you take a look at the video and there's always things to improve on," said Krug.

After a first period goal by right wing Loui Eriksson, the Bruins led the entire way until Sabres defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen connected on a power play goal with less than 90 ticks to go to knot up the game at one apiece and force overtime. Buffalo center Tyler Ennis provided the shootout game-winner for the Sabres after a scoreless extra session.

Krug noted that he and his team are only focused on the next game instead of what happened the night before. The Bruins visit the Ottawa Senators Thursday night for a game full of playoff implications for both teams.

"For us, we have no room to look back, have regrets and worry about what happened last game because we have a huge game in front of us right now against Ottawa," said Krug.

After Ottawa, the Bruins travel to Florida this weekend to take on the Florida Panthers followed by the Tampa Bay Lightning -- both potential playoff teams.

"[Head coach] Claude [Julien] doesn't have to circle this [road trip] on the calendar for us. There's a bunch of us in the locker room that understand what's at stake. We know we take it one game at a time and move on from there," said Krug.

The Bruins begin their first of 12 final regular season games before the NHL playoffs Thursday at 7:30 pm in Ottawa.
