Merrimac Couple Charged With Running Prostitution Ring Out Of Their Home

MERRIMAC (CBS) -- A couple was arrested for allegedly running a prostitution ring out of their home.

The arrests came after three-month long investigation by local and state police looking into "quality of life concerns" in the couple's neighborhood.

Robert Jones, 32, and Marie Sue Shelley, 28, were arrested at their Nichols Street home Friday following an undercover operation.

An undercover State Police trooper responded to a Craigslist ad allegedly posted by Shelley. According to police, Shelley offered to perform a sexual act on the undercover Trooper in exchange for $100.

According to police, lone men were entering and leaving the home during the day and night. Jones would also check for unlocked doors on cars that were parked outside the home while the "Johns" were inside with Shelley.

Shelley and Jones face prostitution charges. Jones also faces a weapons charge, along with charges spurring from an outstanding warrant.
