Witness: Hernandez DNA Found On Marijuana Cigarette At Crime Scene

FALL RIVER (CBS) - Aaron Hernandez said, "I love you girl" to his fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins, who returned to court after having been absent for more than a week.

He said it after prosecutors showed his DNA chart. They said the unique code turned up in two key places in their murder investigation. Investigators found his DNA on a marijuana cigarette near Odin Lloyd's body. Lloyd's DNA was also on the marijuana cigarette.

They also found Hernandez's DNA on a .45 caliber bullet casing that came from the rental he drove the day of the murder. Prosecutors believe it was fired from the missing murder weapon.

State Police Crime Lab DNA analyst Diane Fife-Biagiotti said odds that her test results were not a perfect match for Hernandez are one in many many quadrillions.

Prosecutor William McCauley asked, "How many zeros does a quadrillion have?" "A quadrillion is one with 15 zeros after it," she answered.

Defense attorneys pointed out the casing was stuck to a piece of chewed blue bubble gum Hernandez likely chewed. Defense Attorney Jamie Sultan asked Fife-Biagiotti why investigators never had the gum tested.

"Wouldn't you have liked to have known who's DNA is on the blue bubblegum?" "Yes," she answered.
